1998 EDMONTON NOVICE CHALLENGE

This tournament is for novice table tennis players. If you are a beginner or younger player this is an excellent way to test your skills in a friendly atmosphere.

The draw will be held Friday Dec 4th. Please enter early as this will help the tournament organisers get lots of sleep the night before the tournament. Late entries will be included at the discretion of the tournament.
Eligibility: Players entering will be given
an Alberta Table Tennis Membership as part of their entry fee.

Matches:
U300 Team - Maximum combined rating is 300 with no
one player exceeding 150. This event is for beginners only. The
format will be 2 singles and a doubles match
U600 Team - A maximum combined rating of 600 with no one
player exceeding 250. The format will be 2 singles and a doubles
match.
Junior Singles (U10, U14 and U17) - to qualify as a
novice in these events a player may not have a rating higher than
150

Classification: Most current CTTA ratings will be used. Inactive players will use their last known rating. The tournament committee reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the classification of any player.
Rules: Latest ITTF regulations, including 15cm service toss, red and black racquet, delay of game and 2 minute rest between games. No food or drink in the gym. Orange Nittaku balls will be used. If more than 5 minutes late after your name is called you will default the match. Be sure to check with the control desk if you have to leave the gym.
Umpires: Each player is required to umpire at least twice. The umpire is responsible to see that the match slip is signed by the winner and that the match ball is returned.
Prizes: Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. All Junior Novices will receive a small gift (grab bag).
Dinner: All players, parents and clubs are invited to a fundraising dinner to be held at the Golden Rice Bowl at 6:30 December 6th, 1998 . Tickets are available by contacting the ATTA office or one of the tournament organisers
