1999/2000 ATTA Selection Criteria For Alberta Juniors

(Updated on September 7, 1999)

Objective:

The Criteria encourage commitment from the participating athletes to ensure that they acquire formal tactical and technical training.

The selection criteria have two components

1. Mandatory Participation

All players must attend the following events

The only exceptions to these rules are

However, the Provincial Head Coach must be notified for any absences in the above events.

Additional notes:

All players must abide by the rules set forth by the Coach at the training sessions. Failure to abide by the rules may result in expulsion from the team for that season.

Appeal Process:

Should there be a dismissal of an athlete from the Junior Training program, an athlete has an opportunity to appeal to ATTA. An Appeal Committee will be appointed by the President of ATTA to consider the appeal.

2. Points from Competitions

The point system is based on a season’s competition results. There will be five or more major ATTA sanctioned Tournaments and two team trials. An athlete’s 4 best tournament results will be counted into 60% of the athlete’s total points. The two team trial results make up the remaining 40%. The points awarded each time are as follows:

If an athlete has missed a tournament or team trial, one will get no points awarded. Nevertheless, if any excused absence of an athlete (due to one of the reason described in the previous section under the heading "Mandatory Participation") can significantly affect the ultimate team selection and an athlete’s standing, the Provincial Head Coach has the discretion to schedule a make-up play for the players involved.
