2001 Alberta Provincial Men's Team Trial

Top eight athletes in Alberta were selected for the Provincial Men's Team Trial according to the results of the Calgary Chinatown Open (September 2-3, 2000), Calgary Open (October 14-15, 2000), Edmonton Open (November 4-5, 2000), and Alberta Open (January 6-7, 2001) tournaments. Toney Wynne
Xiang Gui
Dominic Ho
Dietrich Leung
Mazen Samouber
Dominic Ho and Dietrich Leung decided to participate in the 2001 Junior Nationals only. Bert Flisberg and Toney Wynne did not come for the Team Trial. The next two players based on the results of the above designated tournaments, Danny Ngai and Gary Wang, also decided that they would not participate. The next placed player, Philip Chan, attended the Team Trial. Consequently, there were a total of five players in the Team Trial.

In accordance with the CTTA rules for Canadian closed championships, Larry Lee, Christopher Leong, and Xiang Gui will be in the Alberta Provincial Men's Team for the Canadian Nationals (Vancouver, BC, March 2001); Larry Lee, Christopher Leong, Mazen Samouber, and Xiang Gui will be in the Alberta Provincial Men's Team for the Western Canada Open tournament (Saskatoon, SK, May 2001).
